About Us

YDL is a voluntary organisation committed to providing an inclusive forum for London based diplomats from missions and international organisations to network, identify collaborative opportunities, establish lifelong friendships and share experiences through social, multicultural and integration activities for its 2,000-plus members.

As one of the most dynamic associations of diplomats since it was established in 2002, YDL continues to focus on creating a platform that enables its membership to smoothly integrate into the diplomatic community and culture in the UK. In addition, YDL seeks to complement diplomats’ knowledge on the issues and opportunities in the host country as one the largest diplomatic hubs globally.

Our Story

In 2002, a small group of young diplomats in London came together with a vision. They saw an opportunity to create something truly impactful, something that would not only benefit themselves but also the larger diplomatic community in the bustling metropolis of London. And so, Young Diplomats in London (YDL) was born.

Throughout its journey, YDL has organized more than 200 events, ranging from lively social gatherings to hosting significant figures in international relations. With a total of 144 committee diplomats serving over the past 22 years, YDL has consistently passed the baton of leadership to the next group of diplomats posted.

YDL's influence extends far beyond its events. By orchestrating multicultural gatherings and facilitating collaborations between nations, YDL has played a pivotal role in showcasing the immense potential of diplomacy in the United Kingdom. Through its endeavors, YDL has etched a lasting legacy in the vibrant city of London.

But YDL's impact extends far beyond diplomatic circles. By forging partnerships with businesses, hotels, and British government departments, YDL has created a a strong London based network . These connections have not only facilitated dialogue but have also paved the way for tangible outcomes that benefit communities worldwide.

 

Our Mission

Aside from hosting informative and social events, YDL supports a wide range of charitable causes in aid of the less fortunate both locally and abroad. Proud of its diverse and global professional network, YDL continues to enthusiastically welcome diplomats and their friends to form part of its free membership. YDL further encourages active engagement for its full programme of activities planned for the year ahead and is open to mutually beneficial partnerships.
